Viticulture on “Acquarello”
Kurt Tucholsky complained: “It’s a pity that you can’t stroke wine!” Because we would bet that the velvety tannin of a Merlot or the rough astringency of a Sangiovese would purr on our lap like a contented Tuscan cat. Winegrowing is our passion, which we pursue with a lot of love and an eye for the small details.
The focus of our work is on the wonderful indigenous grape varieties of the Maremma, such as Sangiovese or Vermentino, which produce excellent wines with strong character and carry the scent of the heavy clay soil and the herbs of our organic meadows. It is important to us to combine the old knowledge of the typicality of the various local wine varieties with the principles of modern viticulture and thus to create an authentic pleasure and to keep a unique product alive.
Wine from organic cultivation and production
The naturalness of our vineyards and the preservation of biodiversity in our fields are clearly the focus of our agricultural work. We also use gentle methods and processes that are as close to nature as possible when it comes to winemaking in order to preserve the unique character of the grape varieties. For us, wine from organic cultivation and production means quality assurance, which is characterized by its variety of aromas. No two vintages taste the same, because every year the vine encounters different growing conditions and we want to pass this knowledge on to our customers. Whether gentle hand-picking, humus-preserving soil cultivation or the avoidance of fining agents and intensive use of sulphur in processing:
Our constant endeavour is to develop ourselves and our work further so that we can continue to delight wine lovers and connoisseurs alike with the unique taste of Maremma wines and the environment inscribed in them.
Because wine is corked time that we store in bottles. The scent of summer, the memories of the vintage, the images of a bygone era caress our palate when we open a good bottle. Wine is poetry in drop form. And we enjoy every sip – whether white, red or rosé.
